South Korea relegated from VNL after loss to France

South Korea women’s national volleyball team led by Kang So-hwi faced a bitter fate — relegation from the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) following a decisive 0-3 loss (17-25, 19-25, 21-25) to France at Chiba Port Arena, Japan.

The battle for survival in this prestigious competition ended disappointingly for South Korea — the team from the land of ginseng lost out to Thailand in the race for safety in the standings. Both teams secured one victory each, but Thailand edged ahead with 6 points compared to Korea’s 5 points.

Thailand secured their position after their match against Canada which ended with a score of 2-3 (25-17, 23-25, 28-30, 25-23, 13-15).

“We knew what we had to do today and we wanted to do it for our country and our fans,” stated Ajcharaporn Kongyot, Thailand’s team captain, as reported by Volleyball World. “I’m very proud of our team because we managed to stay in VNL after going through many difficulties this season.”
