England crush Wales 6-1 to advance to quarterfinals against Sweden

The England women’s national team under Sarina Wiegman showcased an impressive display — thrashing Wales with a decisive 6-1 score in their final group match.

The Lionesses dominated from the first half by recording four unanswered goals.

  • Georgia Stanway opened the scoring
  • Ella Toone doubled the advantage
  • Lauren Hemp added the third
  • Alessia Russo netted the fourth before halftime

Beth Mead who came on as a substitute managed to extend England’s lead in the second half. Wales scored a consolation goal through Hannah Cain’s spectacular strike, before Aggie Beever-Jones closed the scoring festival with her first goal in a major tournament.

This victory sees England finish second in Group D after France defeated Netherlands. Wiegman’s team will now face Sweden in the quarterfinals.
