Shane Van Gisbergen Dominates NASCAR Cup Series Race in Sonoma

Shane van Gisbergen dominated at Sonoma Raceway by leading 97 of 110 total laps in the NASCAR Cup Series race. This victory marks Red Bull’s first success as a primary sponsor in this series since 2011.

“It was pretty tough stuff. We had an amazing car. Chase Briscoe is a great racer and gave me respect. The last restart was pretty tense, but amazing. So stoked for Red Bull, Trackhouse, and Chevy,” van Gisbergen stated.

Drama unfolded with 15 laps remaining when Cody Ware lost a wheel — forcing a tense restart. Van Gisbergen maintained position on older tires, followed by 13 other drivers using similar strategy.

  • Tyler Reddick
  • Ty Gibbs
  • William Byron
  • Joey Logano
  • Kyle Busch

Chase Elliott, who pitted for fresh tires, had to settle for third, while Chase Briscoe maintained second position until the finish line. Several incidents including Noah Gragson’s crash and Ricky Stenhouse Jr’s spin did not disrupt van Gisbergen’s dominance up front.
