Alain Prost Reunites with Legendary McLaren Cars at Goodwood Festival

Four-time Formula 1 champion Alain Prost reunited with two legendary McLaren cars that carried him to world titles at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Wearing his original race suit, the French driver piloted the 1985 McLaren MP4/2B and 1988 MP4/4 — an experience that left him amazed at the challenges faced by drivers of that era.

“It’s very strange. Every time you get into these types of cars, all the memories come back quickly. The most difficult part is adapting to the clutch and mechanical transmission,” Prost revealed.

The event also marked a special reunion of F1 champions, with Prost joining:

  • Mario Andretti
  • Nigel Mansell
  • Sir Jackie Stewart
  • Emerson Fittipaldi
  • Jacques Villeneuve
  • Mika Häkkinen

These legends shared stories and laughter on the Goodwood House balcony — a moment that demonstrated the enduring friendship between them. Nicolas Prost, the champion’s son, also attended alongside his father in this celebration of Formula 1’s 75th anniversary.
