Record Low: Only 10 Riders Finish German MotoGP GP

The 2025 German GP recorded a concerning result — only 10 riders managed to reach the finish line from 18 starters at the Sachsenring Circuit.

This result equals the lowest finish record of the MotoGP era previously set at the 2011 Australian GP. However, in percentage terms, this year’s German GP was worse considering the higher number of starters compared to the Phillip Island race which only started with 14 riders.

Sachsenring’s first corner proved to be the most dangerous location — the majority of riders failed to finish due to crashes at this point. Pedro Acosta fell at Turn 2, while another incident involved Joan Mir who was collected by Ai Ogura’s Trackhouse Aprilia.

The limited number of starters was due to several rider withdrawals. Somkiat Chantra and Enea Bastianini were absent before the race weekend, followed by Maverick Vinales and Franco Morbidelli who crashed during Saturday’s wet practice sessions.

For historical record, the lowest finish record in premier class motorcycle championship is still held by the 1974 West German GP at Nurburgring Nordschleife — only 4 riders completed the race from 7 starters.
