McLaren driver Lando Norris has surprised the Formula 1 world with his different perspective on legacy — he admits he’s not concerned about how he’ll be remembered in the future.

Despite being in a tight championship battle just eight points behind his teammate Oscar Piastri, Norris maintains his unique philosophy.

“The only thing I want is for people to know the kind of person I was, rather than anything else,” Norris told Rolling Stone. “I’m not fussed about having a legacy or being remembered as being one of the best drivers.”

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella, who has observed Norris’s development firsthand, offers insight into the young driver’s character.

“Lando is such an honest person and I think he perpetuates this honesty in every kind of relationship, including the one with himself,” Stella said. “He wants to make sure that if he gets it wrong, he gets it from the honesty point of view.”

Norris emphasizes that his focus is on current achievements and sharing moments with others — not on how history will remember him in the future.
