Kundananji Sends Zambia to WAFCON Quarter-finals

According to the WAFCON match report, Racheal Kundananji emerged as Zambia’s hero by scoring a free-kick goal that secured their quarter-final spot after defeating DR Congo 1-0 in Mohammédia.

The winning goal came in the eighth minute — Barbra Banda yielded the free-kick opportunity to her Bay FC teammate who capitalized on it perfectly.

  • Zambia finished second in Group A with seven points
  • Morocco topped the group thanks to superior goal difference
  • Senegal still has a chance to qualify as one of the best third-placed teams

Despite dominating the match, Zambia failed to extend their lead — Prisca Chilufya and Barbra Banda squandered several golden opportunities in the second half. The situation favored Zambia further after Falonne Pambani received a red card in the 69th minute.

In another match, Morocco secured the top spot in Group A after defeating Senegal 1-0 through Yasmin Mrabet’s penalty. The group phase will conclude with Nigeria facing Algeria and Tunisia taking on Botswana for the remaining tickets to the quarter-finals.
