Cadillac loses front row start at Interlagos due to violation

According to race stewards’ decision, Cadillac has lost its front row starting position for this weekend’s World Endurance Championship round at Interlagos.

Sébastien Bourdais — who had secured second place in the Hyperpole session behind Jota Cadillac teammate Alex Lynn — has been demoted one grid position for impeding another car. The incident occurred during initial qualifying when Paul di Resta in the Peugeot 9X8 was blocked at Turn 12.

While stewards concluded Bourdais’ actions were unintentional, it still constituted an infringement:

“The driver of number 38 was in a position to move aside before the braking zone at Turn 12 to allow number 93 to pass”

As a result of the penalty, the Porsche 963 LMDh driven by Julien Andlauer moves up from third to the front row alongside Lynn. Bourdais will now start alongside the number 94 Peugeot piloted by Malthe Jakobsen.

The Sao Paulo 6 Hours — round five of the 2025 WEC — begins at 11:30 local time on Sunday. Lynn has now collected three Hypercar class pole positions in WEC since his debut with Cadillac’s factory program at Fuji last year.
