Speaking at a press conference in St. Gallen, Switzerland, Wales head coach Rhian Wilkinson affirmed her team’s readiness to disrupt England’s Euro 2025 campaign — the pressure lies entirely with the Lionesses ahead of their final Group D match.

Despite suffering two defeats in this tournament, Wales made history as Jess Fishlock scored their first goal in a 4-1 loss to France — marking the women’s team’s first appearance in a major tournament.

“Why wouldn’t we go towards a rivalry. We’re going to push them to the very end. We’re in a very close group — England will be forced to play a strong line-up,” stated Wilkinson.

Midfielder Angharad James highlighted the historic rivalry between both nations:

“As a Welsh woman, do you want to knock England out? Of course you do. It’s in our blood, our DNA and you know, the rivalry has always been and always will be there.”

Wales’ best result against England was a 0-0 draw in Southampton — the team is determined to surpass this achievement in Sunday’s match.
