Erick Thohir reveals reason for dual role in PSSI Referee Committee

Erick Thohir revealed the reasoning behind his decision to hold dual positions as Head of PSSI Referee Committee, as stated at Super Soccer Arena, Kudus.

The PSSI Chairman — who also serves as Head of Referee Committee — emphasized the importance of cleaning up national football from unhealthy practices.

“Those with dreams see football in chaos, football with corruption, even though it’s being reorganized and built,” stated Erick Thohir.

“Why did I become head of referee committee? Well, who would dare to bribe me?” he added.

The referee improvement initiative was strengthened by the arrival of Yoshimi Ogawa in 2023 — a representative from Japan Football Association (JFA) as part of PSSI-JFA cooperation to enhance Indonesian referee quality.
