Gary Rowett concerned after injury incident in President’s Cup

Coach Gary Rowett has expressed his concerns after Oxford United experienced an unfortunate incident in the 2025 President’s Cup — a pre-season tournament held in Indonesia.

The English League One club suffered a major setback when their star player, Ole Romeny, sustained a serious injury. The Indonesian national team striker was forced to leave the field on a stretcher in the 11th minute after receiving a harsh tackle from Arema FC player, Paulinho, during the second Group A match.

The situation became more concerning when Romeny posted a photo of his foot fitted with a protective boot — indicating the severity of his injury. Nevertheless, Oxford United managed to advance to the final to face Port FC.
