Yamaha V4 MotoGP Two Seconds Slower Than Current Bike in Brno Test

According to Alex Rins, Yamaha’s developing V4 MotoGP bike recorded times two seconds slower than the current inline-four machine during testing at Brno Circuit.

Rins and Pramac Yamaha’s Miguel Oliveira conducted private testing alongside Yamaha’s development team, which deployed their test riders — Augusto Fernandez and Andrea Dovizioso.

Following Suzuki’s withdrawal, Yamaha remains the only MotoGP manufacturer still using an inline-four engine — though they’ve been developing the V4 engine since last year.

“I recorded 1 minute 52.7 seconds with my bike, while Augusto managed around 1 minute 54.8 or 54.7 seconds,” revealed Rins.

Rins‘ teammate, Fabio Quartararo, is scheduled to test the V4 machine at Misano in about two months.

Rins shared positive impressions about Brno circuit’s new asphalt conditions — the track, unvisited by MotoGP for the past five years, offers good grip with classic track characteristics.
