AC Milan vs Como could become first Serie A match played outside Italy

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has recently given the green light for a historic plan — moving the Serie A match between AC Milan and Como to Perth, Australia.

The venue relocation is not driven by commercial motives — rather by logistical constraints of the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics which will use San Siro Stadium for its opening ceremony.

While FIGC has approved, the plan still requires authorization from several football authorities:

  • Football Australia
  • UEFA
  • Asian Football Confederation
  • FIFA

If all permits are obtained, this match will become the first in Serie A history to be held outside Italian territory — an achievement previously unseen in top European leagues.
