England bounces back with emphatic 4-0 victory over Netherlands at Euro 2025

The England women’s national team demonstrated an impressive revival by defeating Netherlands 4-0 in their Euro 2025 match in Zurich — keeping their knockout stage hopes alive.

Lauren James scored twice, while Georgia Stanway and Ella Toone each added a goal — showing a perfect response after their opening match defeat against France.

“There are always doubters. We don’t listen to it. We have that belief in the squad. We know we have the talent, but it is just about getting it out on the pitch. It was a proper English display,” Toone told BBC.

Alessia Russo emphasized the team’s DNA by stating that “proper English” means relentless hard work and ball possession dominance — a standard the team successfully demonstrated from start to finish.

Coach Sarina Wiegman admitted feeling pressure after the France defeat but maintained faith in her team’s ability to bounce back. Her tactical changes, including moving James to the right wing and introducing Toone to strengthen the midfield, proved successful.
