Davide Ancelotti officially becomes Botafogo head coach

Davide Ancelotti — son of legendary coach Carlo Ancelotti — has been officially appointed as Botafogo’s head coach, as announced on the club’s official website.

The 35-year-old Italian professional coach has signed a one-and-a-half-year contract with the Brazilian Serie A champions — which will run until the end of the 2026 season.

Davide Ancelotti fills the position left by Renato Paiva — who was dismissed by the club nicknamed Fogao after the team’s elimination in the round of 16 of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

“All I can say is that I’m shocked. The staff and players are also very surprised by this decision,” Paiva stated regarding his dismissal.
