Andritany Ardhiyasa speaks up about Liga 1 foreign player regulation

According to Bolasport.com, Professional Footballers Association of Indonesia (APPI) President Andritany Ardhiyasa has stated his position regarding foreign player regulations — his organization does not oppose the implementation of this policy.

This statement comes after I League, previously known as PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB), announced the decision at yesterday’s General Shareholders Meeting — Liga 1 clubs are allowed to register 11 foreign players with maximum eight players on field for the 2025/2026 season.

However, Andritany highlights the contradiction between this policy and Indonesia national team coach Patrick Kluivert’s perspective — the regulation raises concerns about reduced playing opportunities for local players.

APPI regrets the decision-making process that did not involve discussions with players as directly affected stakeholders — although the regulation aims to improve competition quality through knowledge transfer from foreign to local players.
