Anthony Ginting faces tough challenge at Japan Open 2025

Anthony Sinisuka Ginting will begin his comeback at Japan Open 2025 with a tough challenge — facing the seventh seed from the host country in the first round.

This BWF World Tour Super 750 tournament will take place at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium in mid-July. After a lengthy injury layoff, the 2023 Asian champion must prepare to face Kodai Naraoka.

Despite holding a 3-0 head-to-head record, this match won’t be easy for Ginting. Naraoka — currently ranked seventh in the world — is known for his long rally playing style and deep lob shots.

“Naraoka’s tenacity must be watched out for,” noted a local badminton observer.
