Carlo Pernat reveals reason behind Marc Marquez’s dominance with Ducati

According to MotoGP analyst Carlo Pernat in an interview with Men on Wheels Magazine, Ducati’s decision to recruit Marc Marquez was based on indications that the Desmosedici motorcycle was approaching its maximum development limit.

Marquez’s brilliant performance this season — with 15 victories and 2 podiums in 20 races — actually masks fundamental issues with the Ducati GP25, as only the eight-time world champion has been able to master the latest motorcycle from the Italian manufacturer.

Other Ducati GP25 riders are experiencing significant difficulties:

  • Fabio Di Giannantonio from Pertamina Enduro VR46 team struggles to show optimal performance
  • Francesco Bagnaia — Ducati’s most successful rider — admits losing front-end feel

“There were indications from the beginning that Ducati GP25 development could fail,” states Pernat, who has extensive experience as a team director and rider manager in the MotoGP paddock.
