Lee Zii Jia withdraws from Japan Open due to ongoing injury

Lee Zii Jia — Malaysia’s top men’s singles player — has announced his withdrawal from the Japan Open 2025 tournament scheduled for next week.

This BWF World Tour Super 750 tournament was supposed to be Lee’s comeback event — following his last appearance at the All England Open in March.

The official BWF Badminton website has listed Lee’s name among the withdrawn players, alongside Indian shuttler — HS Prannoy.

Lee’s ankle injury hasn’t shown optimal recovery — forcing him to delay his return to the court. Additional concerns have emerged following Lee’s recent social media posts — featuring artistic illustrations indicating signs of depression.
