Jeremy Clarkson and Martin Brundle debate over boring Japanese GP

Jeremy Clarkson and Martin Brundle engaged in a social media discussion on X regarding the lack of action at the Japanese GP — a race won by Max Verstappen.

“I’ve had an idea to make F1 racing more consistently exciting — don’t use tracks where overtaking is difficult,” Clarkson posted.

Jezza, it’s a bit like a harvest, sometimes you have to be patient,” Brundle replied. “From four starts this season we’ve had four different winners. Some football matches are nil-nil, some are last minute 5-4 thrillers.”

Race statistics showed only 15 overtaking maneuvers after the first lap — with nine drivers managing to change positions from their starting places.

“The race was long, dull, not much happening,” said Sauber driver Nico Hulkenberg. “I spent a lot of the race in traffic and it’s not much fun looking at someone’s rear wing in the DRS.”

Clarkson’s post comparing the race to a cricket match gained significant attention — reaching 2.2 million users with 949 responses from his followers.
