The Indonesian National Police contingent has sent 97 of its best athletes to compete in the World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) 2025 taking place in Birmingham, United States.

The police athletes will compete in eight sports disciplines — including volleyball, basketball, swimming, athletics, golf, cycling, judo, and taekwondo. The event also features several special categories such as:

  • Firefighter Challenge
  • Toughest Competitor Alive
  • K-9 Biathlon
  • Various shooting and martial arts events

Officer Yunia Angelly Syahdat has achieved remarkable success by winning two gold medals — in cycling and 450-meter sprint athletics for the Women 18-29 age category.

Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin opened the event which runs until July 6, 2025. Birmingham Police Chief Michael Pickett lit the torch after receiving it from Birmingham Fire Chief Corey Moon at Legacy Arena.

“Through competition and social interaction during the event, this becomes an important platform for exchanging experiences, enhancing professional capacity, and strengthening values of solidarity and cross-country cooperation,” stated Pickett.
