The British government has taken firm action against 150 Chelsea and Manchester City supporters — requiring them to surrender their passports to prevent attendance at the Club World Cup tournament in the United States.

The Home Office ministry states that the ban is enforced due to supporters’ record of misconduct — including violence, disorder, pitch invasions, use of pyrotechnics, and online hate crimes.

This FIFA-organized tournament will take place across 11 US cities, with Chelsea and Manchester City scheduled to play in Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Orlando. Both teams qualified for the 32-team tournament through their Champions League titles in the past four seasons.

Banned supporters must surrender their passports at least five days before the tournament begins in Miami. Severe penalties await violators — unlimited fines or up to six months imprisonment.

  • 2,172 banning orders in effect in England and Wales at season start
  • 99% of supporters complied with similar ban during Euro 2024
  • 126 England and Wales supporters arrested in Germany during Euro 2024

The British government’s firm stance on football-related misconduct highlights—its ongoing efforts to curb hooliganism and protect the sport’s reputation.

The enforcement of travel restrictions serves as a deterrent against future incidents—ensuring that international tournaments remain safe and enjoyable for all attendees.
