Jeremy Monga wrote his name in Premier League history after becoming the second-youngest player to appear in the competition — debuting for Leicester City in a 3-0 defeat to Newcastle United.

The England U-16 international made his debut at 15 years and 271 days old, just 90 days short of the record held by Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri.

Monga had to appear with a sponsor-free jersey — as the Gambling Act 2005 prohibits players under 18 from wearing jerseys with gambling sponsors.

Leicester City currently sit 19th in the standings with eight consecutive losses without scoring — 15 points away from the safety zone.
