After Japan Open Exit, 13 Indonesian Shuttlers Target China Open 2025 Comeback

CHANGZHOUThirteen of Indonesia’s top badminton players are gearing up for one of the season’s most prestigious tournaments, the BWF World Tour Super 1000 China Open 2025, taking place from July 22 to 27 at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium in Changzhou, Jiangsu, China.

Fresh off their campaign at the Japan Open, the Indonesian contingent enters the China Open with renewed motivation. Although the team fell short of claiming a title in Japan, key performances and lessons learned have sparked optimism for a stronger showing in this high-stakes tournament.

Post-Japan Open Evaluation

The performances at the Japan Open served as a valuable evaluation point for the Indonesian team. In the men’s singles, Jonatan Christie, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, and Alwi Farhan are once again in the spotlight. Although none advanced to the quarterfinals in Japan, they are expected to bring stronger form to Changzhou.

Jonatan and Ginting were eliminated early after losses to Japanese opponents. Rising star Alwi Farhan, however, showed promise by reaching the Round of 16 before being edged out by Alex Lanier of France.

Meanwhile, the quarterfinal appearances of Putri Kusuma Wardani (women’s singles), Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri (men’s doubles), and Lanny Tria Mayasari/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti (women’s doubles) provide positive momentum ahead of the China Open.
