Carlos Pena Sacked After Persija Lose to Semen Padang

According to Bolasport.com, Carlos Pena expressed his disappointment after being dismissed from his position as head coach of Persija Jakarta — a job he had worked hard to build now feels wasted.

The 45-year-old coach was sacked following Persija Jakarta‘s 0-2 defeat to Semen Padang at Pakansari Stadium. The result caused the Macan Kemayoran to drop to fifth place in the Liga 1 standings with 47 points.

Ricky Nelson has been appointed as interim coach of Persija Jakarta for the remainder of the season. The team still has four remaining matches against:

• Borneo FC
• Bali United
• PSS Sleman
• Malut United

“With four matches remaining and still fighting to achieve the club’s target, my time at Persija has come to an end,” said Carlos Pena, who still had one month left on his contract.
